30/05: P. Ormaechea vs Y. Shvedova

Shvedova (WTA 31) will take on Ormaechea (Q) today and we could see a surprise here. Ormaechea is playing very solid lately, winning her qualifiying games in 2 sets. She dropped a set in her first round game vs Maria, but finished comfortably with a 6-0 in the 3rd set. Favourite Shvedova on the other hand didn't look so well, losing a set against Vandeweghe.

She had some decent games recently, winning against Wozniacki, Vinci & Suarez-Navarro, but had to give up in Madrid earlier this month because of an injury. Her match against Vandeweghe was her first match since then and she failed to impress. If Vandeweghe can win a set against Shvedova, than Ormaechea can definitely  too. She might even surprise Shvedova by winning this match, but it won't be in 2 sets. Shvedova remains favourite in this one and should win at least a set.
